Pretty Things: Lively lines
Lively Lines is full of animated effects. Drag to draw a variety of lines. Experiment with different lengths and marks. Watch them animate! See how the marks change when they overlap. Use the buttons in the top left to save, load and print your images.
You can use this activity with the other Pretty Things activities for even more amazing results! In the left-hand margin are other works you have made during the session. Select one to open it in the canvas area and work on top of it. NOTE: These will not be saved automatically when you finish your session on Busy Things.
Teaching tips:
The 'Line tools' setting 'Blank canvas with single black line' simulates the drawing of letters as seen in ‘Sound seek’. Pair with ‘Squeaky clean’ for more mark-making practice or ‘Write now!’ to practise writing letters.
They could draw a dinosaur and watch the lines turn ‘spiky’, draw some balloons and watch as they float around the screen. The possibilities are endless, let their imagination run wild!
This could be paired with ‘Paint like Bridget Riley’ where children need to create an illusion of movement in a picture. Alternatively, use these ideas to create a piece of abstract art and ‘Paint like Wassily Kandinsky’.
