Make a minibeast
Make a minibeast. Choose a body and then drag wings, legs, antennae and eyes into place.
Discussion points
- What does your minibeast like to eat?
- Where does it live?
- Does is have any special features?
- Can it fly?
Teaching tips:
Before children design their own minibeast, why not go out on a minibeast hunt with magnifying glasses to see these creatures up close. How can they describe the minibeasts? Where do they like to live? This would be a good opportunity to introduce the word ‘habitat’ as a place suited to the survival of the minibeasts.
If children want to design and write about their minibeast, try ‘Create a minibeast’.
Or, label ‘Parts of an insect’ or sort the minibeasts into ‘Insect or not?’
