Europe jigsaw
Drag the pieces into the correct places.
If you need a bit of extra help, use the lightbulb clue button.
Discussion points
- Have you ever visited any of these countries/capital cities?
- If so, how are they the same/different to your country?
- Which countries are closer to the UK? Which are further away?
- Which country is the large one in orange to the east?
Teaching tips:
Use the activity settings to change the labelled information presented on completion of the jigsaw. Choose between: none, fewer capital city labels or more capital city labels.
Before completing the jigsaw, ask children what they already know about Europe. Are they familiar with any of the countries?
Children could use atlases to look more closely at these countries before or after completing the jigsaw. Get children to notice which countries border other countries.
Once complete, note that the circle sizes give an indication to the size of the capital city: London, Istanbul and Moscow are the largest cities in Europe and therefore have the largest circles.
Use alongside ‘Western, Eastern and Northern European countries’ or try ‘European countries’ ‘European countries (advanced)’ to look in more detail at the countries of Europe. Test children’s knowledge out with ‘Some countries of Europe - recall’.
